When is a furniture lift useful?
A furniture lift saves time and prevents damage to your furniture and to the stairwell. From the third floor up, it is our preferred option. On lower floors, the lift can also be the answer, for example with:
- a narrow or steep staircase, as in many upstairs flats and walk-up blocks in The Hague
- large or heavy items such as a corner sofa, box-spring bed or wardrobe that can’t be taken apart
- a building with a small passenger lift that furniture won’t fit into
- a garden or balcony that can only be reached from outside
Hire separately or with your move
You can use the lift in two ways:
- As part of a move by us: the lift is then included in the planning and operated by one of our movers.
- Hired separately: you move yourself or with friends, but want the heavy items to go via the lift. You always hire the lift with one of our operators; we don’t hire it out without an operator.
You can reserve the lift for one hour, for example to bring one new sofa upstairs, or for half a day or a full day for a complete move.
What is needed on the day
A furniture lift stands in the street and extends up to the window or balcony. That is why there are a few practical requirements:
- A parking space directly opposite the window or balcony where your things go in and out. That is where the lift stands.
- A window or balcony door that opens wide enough, or that can be taken out temporarily.
- Free space around the front of the building, without trees, lampposts or overhead cables in the way.
If a removal van is coming too, bear in mind that it needs its own parking space: two parking spaces per 20 m³ van. Your moving advisor will go through the situation with you beforehand, if needed using photos of the front of the building and the street.
Combine with assembly
If your new wardrobe comes upstairs in parts, our handyman can put it together straight away. That way, one visit takes care of what would otherwise take two appointments.
Price and booking
You hire the furniture lift by the hour, with a minimum of two hours. If only one large item needs to go via the lift, such as a sofa or wardrobe, one hour is also possible. For addresses further away, we also charge for the lift’s travel time. Book the lift through our quote tool, or get in touch if you only need the lift.
