A city with many faces
The Hague is not a city with just one type of home. In the Statenkwartier, Duinoord and Benoordenhout you’ll find stately townhouses and upstairs flats with high ceilings, wide staircases and sometimes an attic full of things collected over the years. In Laak, Transvaal and the Schilderswijk you’ll mostly find walk-up flats with narrow, steep stairs, where a wardrobe or bed often has to be taken apart. Escamp and Loosduinen have many post-war flats and terraced houses, and in Ypenburg and Leidschenveen families live in new builds with spacious rooms and their own parking space.
Our team works in all of these neighbourhoods every day. That means we know in advance which approach fits: taking things apart and carrying them down the stairs, using the building’s lift, or bringing in our own furniture lift.
What to keep in mind in The Hague
- Parking: in a large part of the city, paid parking or a permit zone applies. Each 20 m³ truck needs two parking spaces. Your moving advisor will discuss with you whether you need to arrange anything with the municipality.
- Stairwells: many upstairs flats in The Hague have steep, narrow stairs. A furniture lift is often faster and safer in that case. It needs a spot directly opposite the window or balcony.
- Trams and cycle paths: on busy streets with tram tracks or a separate cycle path, it’s extra important that the truck is parked in a safe spot. We’ll look at this with you in advance.
- Shared stairwells: let your neighbours know a few days ahead when you’re moving. That way there won’t be bikes or prams in the hallway when we arrive.
Our own storage in the city
Our own warehouse is in The Hague. If your new home is handed over later than you leave your old one, your belongings can stay there for a while. Read more about our storage. Moving from The Hague to Scheveningen, another city or even abroad? We do that too, with our own team and our own vehicles.
