Moving in a city that builds upwards
No Dutch city has as many residential towers as Rotterdam. Around the centre, on the Kop van Zuid and along the Maas, many people live ten floors up or higher. A move in a building like that needs good coordination: who can use the lift and when, where does the truck park and how do large pieces of furniture get through the lobby? Our team knows how to plan a high-rise move tightly.
At the same time, Rotterdam has neighbourhoods with a very different character. Kralingen and Hillegersberg have townhouses and villas with spacious rooms and full attics. In Blijdorp, Crooswijk and Delfshaven you’ll mostly find pre-war walk-up flats with steep stairs. In Prins Alexander and IJsselmonde, many families live in single-family homes and flats with outdoor walkways. Every home needs a different approach, and your dedicated moving advisor discusses it with you in advance.
Access and parking
- Wide streets, busy roads: Rotterdam’s avenues are often wide, but also busy. A fixed loading and unloading spot close to the front door saves a lot of time.
- Parking: each 20 m³ truck needs two parking spaces. Your moving advisor will check with you whether you need to apply for anything with the municipality.
- Furniture lift: in walk-up flats without a lift, we like to use our own furniture lift. It needs a spot directly opposite the window or balcony.
- Building management: new builds and residential towers often have rules set by the owners’ association (VvE) or building manager. Ask for them in good time.
From Rotterdam to elsewhere, and tips in advance
From our hubs we can be on site quickly, even if the move needs to start early in the day. Moving from Rotterdam to Delft, The Hague or further? Then we drive straight through in one go with our own team. If your new home isn’t ready yet, your belongings are safe in our own storage in The Hague.
Do you live in a building with a shared lift? Put up a note for your neighbours a few days ahead. That avoids surprises on moving day and keeps the lift free when we need it. Want to know roughly what your move will cost? Request a price estimate right away.
